Military Aircraft Arresting Systems
ESCO's versatile products for military aircraft are built around friction and rotary hydraulic energy absorbers as part of permanent, semi-permanent and mobile installations. The aircraft's energy is harnessed via cross-runway net stanchion or hook cable equipment configurations and is then transferred to the energy absorbers, safely slowing and stopping the aircraft. A wide range of product upgrades and accessories provide value-enhancing features including setback installation, servo control and radio control.
Other applications of ESCO's energy absorption expertise include the Space Shuttle Orbiter Arresting System, M31 US Marine Corps Expeditionary Arresting Gear System and Advanced Arresting Gear for aircraft carriers.

Commercial Aircraft Arresting Systems (EMAS)
ESCO's EMAS, an Engineered Material Arresting System, provides new levels of safety at airports across the country. Developed in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), our EMAS is consisted of a bed of cellular cement material manufactured in the form of engineered block components that are strategically placed at the overrun end of a runway. The EMAS predictably and reliably crushes under the weight of an aircraft, providing deceleration and a safe stop. It is FAA-accepted as an equivalent to a Standard Runway End Safety Area.
