BAK-12/500S Friction Brake

BAK12/500S
The ESCO BAK-12 is the standard emergency aircraft arresting system in service with the U.S. Air Force. The 500S is the NATO and commercial equivalent that is in use worldwide. These proven systems provide high reliability under all operational conditions and are suitable for use at any location. They may be installed on concrete pads above or below grade, in semi-pits, or trailer-mounted for mobility. They can be easily transported to remote locations by air, land or sea and installed quickly with earth anchors and/or concrete anchoring plates.

The BAK-12/500S incorporates a standard mechanical hydraulic control circuit to provide preprogrammed brake pressures for aircraft-specific weight ranges and automatically adjusts to accommodate aircraft of varying weights, engaging speeds and off-center engagements within a specified performance envelope.

An electronic hydraulic servo control system is also available for any air force that operates a wide range of aircraft of varying weights. This feature is also highly effective for air forces that host foreign fighter aircraft.
